The Deepsea Goes: The Deepsea Goes is a Los Angeles, CA based indie/noise rock duo that formed in 2007. Their first releases were distributed throughout the greater Los Angeles area in anonymous manila envelopes with cryptic messages & a home address to write a letter to if you wanted to find out more. They were placed in clothing at thrift stores, bathrooms of prominent venues, magazines at supermarkets & used bin s at record stores. Since then they’ve released 2 full lengths, a variety of EP’s & singles, & have toured the US multiple times. Their latest release, Worship the Future, firmly reestablishes the band’s existence while also pointing the way towards their future. Worship the Future picks up where the last full-length release Oraoneiroi left off, but also walks through the door that was opened with the 2010 single All Is Ripe. Choosing to pull back where older songs would’ve pushed, Worship the Future showcases a new-found melodic sensibility for The Deepsea Goes. Songs are given more time to breathe & clearer dynamics allow the songs to ebb & flow towards their inevitable crescendos. Opening song What opens with a doomy, sludgy guitar riff before driving drums propel the song forward. Are shimmers & drones before opening up into the kind of discordant explosions The Deepsea Goes is known for. Opening with a drum fill, You is the most straightforward song on the EP, taking it’s cues from the 90’s shoegaze scene. The song Waiting has an almost middle eastern feel with it’s circular guitar parts & steady drum beat. Closer For? is the most dynamic song on the record & manages to twist & crawl from a quiet coda of drums & guitar to a bouncy explosion of guitar noise & feedback. Taken altogether the song titles “What Are You Waiting For?” could just have easily been asked of the band itself. Released two years after their last tour & almost three years after the last full-length release, it represents a reassertion of not only the band’s existence, but also it’s strengths. Inspired by the intervening years when the band wasn’t as active, the song’s range in subject matter from the band’s pet topics like the end of the world, prostitution & the global economy to the debasing nature of living a life of travel, near-death experiences & impossible love. If Worship the Future is any indication we won’t have to wait for The Deepsea Goes.

Nedy : I am a 23 year old singer/songwriter/musician. Based in Los Angeles. I began playing guitar at age 14 and singing at age 22.

Bullet and Snowfox: Bullet & Snowfox is the musical lovechild of Kristen Wagner and Josh Shapiro. What began as a “casual encounters” ad on Craigslist has quickly evolved into LA’s hottest dance party. With influences ranging from Siouxsie and the Banshees and Blondie to Elastica and Garbage, they have created a unique brand of dance-rock with an infectious energy that can’t be stopped. Their combination of intoxica ting synth-pop beats, aggressive guitar hooks and piss and vinegar attitude guarantees an ass shaking good time whenever these savages are around. In 2009, Kristen and Josh teamed up with Manimal Vinyl’s own dance producer, Baron von Luxxury (Little Boots, Glass Candy), to begin crafting their self-titled debut EP. After attending the duo’s first live show in 2010, drummer Matteo Eyia hopped on board and together, they have been wowing crowds with a blazing hot set all over Southern California ever since. This fiery threesome, joined on stage by bass player Drew Behj, have made their mark playing festivals such as KCRW’s Bloomfest LA in 2010 and 2011, famed LA venues including Bardot, Viper Room and Silverlake Lounge and took to the runway with a performance at LA Fashion Week 2011 at Sunset Gower Studios. Their electro-pop-rock sounds have also been heard pulsing out of television sets with music featured on MTV and The CW. The blogosphere tastemakers have taken note, creating a viral buzz that is undeniable. The Culture of Me writes “The songs are truly the real deal and the center of the story. It’s punk, it’s new wave, it’s dance, it’s pretty brilliant and still hard edged… and boy is it fun.” Currently, Bullet & Snowfox are spending their days writing and recording their forthcoming full-length album as they continue to hit the stages of Southern California’s most rockin’ venues. These scoundrels have already taken L.A. by storm and show no signs of slowing down. So grab some dancing shoes and a pack of your favorite smokes because just like any good sexual encounter, Bullet & Snowfox will leave you satisfied and craving a cigarette.

Cash Crop: Monuments to filth.
